Spring Is Here

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

Where has the time gone? I swear Winter was just at my feet and now flowers are abloom and the new collection in the works. With fashion, we can't miss the season or we're a season behind schedule.

If you missed the last shoot, here's a couple of edits from #slydon photography with ModDame's last collection featuring gorgeous Christina Sofina and Jessica Ostman.

Moving onto our Spring Collection, I decided to go with with what I love to wear every day. With a pair of jeans or cute high waist shorts, I'm designing basic, yet unique modern cut tops and easy to wear rompers for dates, to brunch, and work. It's in the works and I'm excited to work on the lookbook in the coming month! Take a sneak peak at some of the fabrics you'll see in the collection below.

Since I've been not blogging, others have on Instagram and their blogs! See below fashionistas swaggin' in ModDame! We're always looking to collaborate so if ModDame is your style, hit us up: info@moddame.com

Lifestyle & Moddame

"From a small suburban city to the big city, you just don't get bored of the bright lights, tall buildings, and busy streets." -moddame

It's the holidays, which means time to enjoy the winter season and holiday cheer. Instead, my desk has been piled with work for Moddame's new collection and my recent. I decided to do a last minute shoot. This time, I wanted to style the collection with everyday casual outfits for days and nights. Thanks to my wardrobe and accessories and shoes from Like Dreams, my stylist Arthur and I were able to pull off a fun, lifestyle fashion shoot.

With less than a week of planning and searching for a model and photographer, we were in luck to find such talents on Modelmayhem. I still recommend this site to anyone who wants to connect with others this industry. As hectic as planning for one model was, we took on two models for the 4 hour shoot on a Sunday. We teamed up with Syldon's Photography and the models Christina Sofina (www.christinasofine.com) and Jessica. Our location was in the heart of DTLA, in an apartment on Broadway and 5th with amazing views of the city below.

Meet Christina our gorgeous Russian hottie who's so sweet and fun to work with!

Meet Jessica our Jessica Alba look alike!

Styling is not cheap or easy! Always shop the clearance section.

November Rain

November 2nd, 2014
November rain came early this year on the night of Halloween. Luckily, all the kids had came and went before it poured all night! For the first time since I could remember, I stayed in for Halloween. Instead of spending a couple of hundred dollars on a DIY costume for myself as usual, it was spent on bags of candy for little trick-or-treaters and a delicious Korean bbq dinner in our backyard. Did I mention dinner under a canopy in the rain? It was magical!

The days of staying late for production have finally subdued and all production is here and ready to ship! This week, we're researching some of our favorite bloggers, instagrammers, and fashion forward chicks to check out the ModDame collection. Our Maxim bodysuits and Greggy Midi Skirts are selling fast. With such a limited quantity on this first collection, don't wait too long to get your piece!

Production in the Works!

In love with this new remix of Zedd's Clarity!

October 19th, 2014

It's been long Saturdays at work but the experience is non-replaceable. The BF has been grateful with helping me to help cut patterns and fabric all day, as I grade patterns and go nuts trying to make the best of this collection. One more week and the first part of production will be complete for all styles.

With three color ways for our Maxim bodysuit, we had to cut elastic for every side front, back, armhole, etc of the patterns. This took 3 nights to cut! Adding elastic to bodysuits gives you a comfortable yet body hugging fit. These bodysuits are one of my favorites in the collection!

The Maxim body suits in Beige, Glam, and Print
Every curve is cover stitched with quality elastic, giving you a body hugging fit, and all made in a fabric that will give you comfort, glam, and turn heads. With a high neck line giving you that classy look, you're also going sexy with a light showing of side cleavage, low two strap backing, and high thigh cuts, exposing this adorable piece in all bottoms that you pair it up with.

Cutting our gorgeous mirror print was the most difficult part in all the cutting I've done. Having to place each layer as nice and symmetrical to the last was more than one night of work. In the end, it was worth it. The adorable tops that are being made are all year sellers and an original piece.

We've been receiving production already and they're looking amazing. These styles just came in stock and are now up on the site! It's finally time to start spreading the word of ModDame and getting some of my favorite bloggers and Instagrammers on board!

First of October!

This is the new blog for Moddame The Label. If you've followed the online boutique before, you can still read up on the past blogs at: http://www.moddame.blogspot.com.

October 1st 2014

The month of September passed so quickly, I can only remember the Summer get-away I had this past weekend to Las Vegas and to San Fran the other weekend. It was a good time to get some fresh air and to enjoy the last days of Summer.

I think I've grown too old for 24 hour Vegas trips, but one last one with the girls this Summer. I took a picture of the "Welcome to California" sign as you can tell. I did get a chance to glam up in my favorite dress of ModDame's Fall Collection!

What's the update: I can't believe that the collection is LATE! Like any first time collections, nothing ever goes as planned. I've been working Saturdays and after work almost every night on the collection. The production company has a lot of work to do and with the collection being so limited in quantity, it's taking longer to produce. I do apologize! We are getting our products in slowly. I'm excited every time they're ready to drop something off!

Fall has hit Los Angles. The weather is in it's 70's and I'm loving the chilly mornings and late nights by the fire pit. It's the first of October. Friends are planning for the parties, Halloween theme parks, and if we're staying in this year, since it's our first year at our new home. There's only one thing on my mind and that's getting this collection up on it's feet. The website will be updated soon with the new campaign. I'm really happy with our gorgeous model Isabelle~

The Waiting Game

This is the new blog for Moddame The Label. If you've followed the online boutique before, you can still read up on the past blogs at: http://www.moddame.blogspot.com

The past couple of weeks have been recovery time for me. So much was going on to complete samples for the photo shoot, plan the photo shoot and get production on the go. The lookbook has finally been released on the site: http://www.moddame.com/gallery and pre-orders coming soon this week!

See the complete Lookbook at the link above!

I must thank Calvin Lim at Calvin Lim Photography for doing an amazing job on the shoot, as well as model Isabelle Ann and MUA Blair Levinthal for making this shoot fun and memorable.

What's next:
Production is the next step in getting this collection going. As easy as it seems to just submit a pattern to marking to production, it's not that simple. Each pattern needs to be corrected, reviewed, and if possible, a sample should be made once more to confirm fit. Once this part is done, we've got to submit it to a marking company to get our sizes made. For this collection, most of the styles will be manually graded by me (i'm already stressed). Being short on cash means doing as much as I possibly can by myself. ModDame will be carrying only 3 sizes for this collection. A small fitting a 0-2 and so on. Working with such a small quantity for this collection, I've invested into an automatic cutting knife that's recommended for small production. The time to grade a pattern and then cut any quantity is very time consuming. I can only hope that production goes smoothly with the collection looking it's best in quality.

Marketing:
Once production is in the works, marketing plays a big part in getting the collection exposed. Instagram is where many brands are now promoting their stores and collections. Using popular fashionistas for exposure, there's no better way to get ModDame out there and exposed. Research on bloggers, youtubers, and any social media sites with big traffic is a great way to collaborate on a budget. Let's see which fab chicks we'll get to feature in our collection!

Preps & Props & Shoot!

This is the new blog for Moddame The Label. If you've followed the online boutique before, you can still read up on the past blogs at: http://www.moddame.blogspot.com

After weeks of planning and putting together themes for the look book / promotional campaign, the day finally came when it was all put to use. The Moddame Fall 2014 Collection was shot at my loft in South Gate, California. When the BF and I first moved in, I thought it would be a great place for a photo shoot, and it was.

To bring Moddame to life, we created a mix of modern, comfort, and casual setting upstairs. We found these amazing leather chaises on craigslist that added elegance and chic. Downstairs, we wanted to give Moddame more of an edgy look by using alcohol bottles, vintage props, and tying it all together with a clean white light.

We were lucky to have been able work with the talented MUA, Blair Levinthal www.makeupbyblair.com. She did an amazing job on the makeup for each set. The beautiful model was Isabelle Ann, who had an adorable English accent! She had amazing hair, great model poses, and was very easy to work with. Calvin Lim, our photographer from www.calvinlimphotography.com dialed in perfect lighting in every set. I'm confident in his work and can't wait to see the final look book / promotional campaign. It's unimaginable how much work goes into one photo shoot.

"Moddame the label, aims to satisfy the edgy, trendsetter, modern day woman. From comfortable and casual, to trending and bold, Moddame knows that every modern day woman, is all the above."

With Isabelle and Blair! Good work girls!

Had to take a selfie to look back at! The lazy eye just had to ruin it.

The photo shoot was a great success and brings the collection that much closer to completion, yet there is so much more left to do. This week is all about finalizing patterns and markings for production. There is one month left to complete production and lots of fabric to be cut. Come back next week to see the final look book, place your pre-orders, spread the word, and love the collection.
